The government has ordered re-examination in the SSLC English II paper in a district.

In a statement in the Assembly on Wednesday, the Education Minister said that the invigilators in seven rooms of a Higher Secondary school had been given a packet containing the question paper for English II instead of English I on March 22. The mistake had been realized after more than 15 minutes and the question paper were withdrawn and deposited with the paper custodian.

Denying reports the question papers had been 'leaked', the Minister speculated that the opportunity to make a fast buck out of the situation could have been made use of by some. He said enquiries by his department as well as the CID had revealed that the question papers reportedly 'leaked' and in circulation had nothing in common with the actual question paper.

The government had ordered a re-examination taking into consideration the possibilities of the invigilators remembering some of the questions in the 'leaked' paper.

Two officials have been suspended for the leakage of the exam papers, according to sources. They are the departmental officer and the custodian of the papers, both based at the district headquarters.

Question 1:
Choose the best option.

How would you describe the overall tone of the passage?

A. Serious

B. Casual

C. funny

D. flippant

Right Answer is: A

SOLUTION

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. serious

The overall passage deals with a serious event - the leaking of the English II paper in SSCL and thus its re-examination. The passage further goes to describe the investigation that followed the leak and the people that were suspected of committing the crime. All of this is a serious matter, there is no humour, no dismissive tone and no indication that what happened was casual.

Thus, the correct answer is option 1.
