Assume the transistor is in saturation

Applying KVL at input loop

–3 + 0.8 + (10K)I_{B sat} = 0

⇒ I_{B sat} = 0.22 mA

Applying KVL at output loop

–12 + (1.18K)I_{C sat} + 0.2 = 0

Clearly βI_{B sat} > I_{C sat}

So, transistor is in saturation
