The angle of elevation of the top of a tree from a point on the g
| The angle of elevation of the top of a tree from a point on the ground which is 300 m away from the tree is 30 o. When the tree grew up, its angle of elevation of the top of it became 60o from the same point. How much did the tree grow?

A. 342 m

B. 364 m

C. 384 m

D. 346 m

Right Answer is: D

SOLUTION

Let AB be the tree and BD be the increased height of the tree.

BCA = 30°

Here distance AC = 300m

We need to find the value of BD.

By trigonometric ratios we have

Tan30° =

Tan60° =

So ; √3 × 300 = AD

BD = AD – AB

BD = 300√3 – 100√3 = 200√3 ≈ 346 m
