During luteal phase of menstrual cycle, corpus luteum secrete large amount of progesterone. The latter reaches its peak amount about 22nd day after the beginning of cycle. In this phase uterus lining thickness further and becomes secretory. This stage is meant for receiving the fertilised ovum (implanation).
