SOLUTION
The equatorial S - F bonds are stronger and shorter than the axial S - F bonds.
Also, there is a clear, localized double bond present in this structure. The vertical
F - S - F angle is not 180°. This could be explained by the repulsion between the
axial F - S - F sigma bonds and the S - O pi bond. The same reason accounts for
Feq−S−O bond being greater than 120°.
This structure is nearly tetrahedral (won't be [perfectly symmetrical).
Clearly, each S - O bond has a partial double bond character;
This means the bond order is < 2 but not quite 2! The tetrahedral angle,
even with perfect symmetry, is about 109°. This will definitely be lesser
than 120° no doubt!
