Right Answer is: B

SOLUTION

Given, Width of river = 40 meters

= 0.04 km (∵ 1 m = 0.001 Km)

Depth of river = 3 meters

= 0.003 km

Speed of river = 2 km/hr

Hence, the volume flow rate of the river = Width × depth × speed of river

= 0.04 × 0.003 × 2

= 0.00024 km3/hr

We know that, 1 km3 = 1012 liters

And 1 hour = 60 minutes

Thus,

Volume fall into the sea in lts/min

= (0.00024 × 1012)/60 lts/min

= 40,00,000 lts/min

Hence, 40,00,000 liters of water is flowing in a minute into the sea.
