Right Answer is: C

SOLUTION

Given data :

The number of persons taking tea - 25

The number of persons taking coffee - 20

The number of persons taking milk - 15

The number of persons taking both coffee and tea - 10

The number of persons taking both coffee and milk - 8

None of them takes tea and milk both

In the question, it is clearly mentioned that everyone takes at least one of the three beverages.

So the number of persons who take more than one beverage we have to cancel out from the total number of persons to find out the actual number of persons went to the picnic.

The number of persons taking tea + The number of persons taking coffee + The number of persons taking milk - The number of persons taking both coffee and tea - The number of persons taking both coffee and milk =  25 + 20 + 15 - 10 - 8

                                                                                                             = 60 - 18

                                                                                                             = 42

Hence, '42' is the correct answer.
