A bag contains Rs. 180 in the form of one rupee, 50 paise and 25 paise coins in the ratio of 1 : 2 : 4. The total number of coins is:

A. 60

B. 120

Let the 1 - rupee, 50 - paise and 25 - paise coins be x, 2x, 4x respectively

x + 0.50 × 2x + 0.25 × 4x = 180

3x = 180

x = 60

Total number of coins = (x + 2x + 4x) = 7x = 7 × 60 = 420
