Question 1: Ramesh invests in buying 400 grams of B1 and 240 grams of B3 Biscuits. Find the amount of investments by Ramesh.
A. Rs. 15,40,800
B. Rs. 16,06,920
C. Rs. 17,80,640
D. Rs. 10,40,280
E. Rs. 14,40,460
Right Answer is: B
SOLUTION
Price of Gold per 10 grams = Rs. 42000
⇒ 42000/10 = Rs. 4200 per gram
Price of Silver per kg = Rs. 42000
⇒ 42000/1000 = Rs. 42 per gram
In Biscuit B1,
Silver: Gold = 2 : 3
Silver = 400 × 2 / 5 = 160 grams
Cost of silver = 160 × 42 = Rs. 6720
Gold = 400 × 3 / 5 = Rs. 240
Cost of Gold = 240 × 4200 = Rs. 10,08,000
Total Cost of B1 Biscuits = 6720 + 10,08,000 = Rs. 10,14,720
In Biscuit B3,
Silver : Gold = 5 : 7
Silver = 240 × 5 / 12 = 100 grams
Cost of silver = 100 × 42 = Rs. 4200
Gold = 240 × 7 / 12 = 140 grams
Cost of Gold = 140 × 4200 = Rs. 588000
Total Cost of B3 Biscuits = 4200 + 588000 = Rs. 5,92,200
Total investment = 10,14,720 + 5,92,200 = Rs. 16,06,920
